In support of my transition toward new beginnings, I’ve been on a Candida Cleanse. For those of you who do not know about the dangers of excess candida growth and gut toxins, I suggest you do a little googling. Try “candida Imbalance” and see what comes up.
In a nutshell, Candida is a type of yeast that grows in your body. Small amounts are normal, but if candida grows too much, all hell can break loose. When the bacteria in your gut becomes imbalanced, the overgrowth of candida can result is digestive issues, including constipation, diarrhea, nausea, gas, cramps and bloating. Not fun.
So how do you fix it? You need to start a cleanse….No sugar, no carbs, no red meat, no dairy, no caffeine, no beans!! (I cheat a bit!)
What can you eat? Lots of greens. Healthy fats. Lean white meat and some nuts and seeds. I move a lot, so I need calories! So don’t starve yourself.
After the first two weeks of a cleanse, you may get difficult cravings and a tired, moody disposition. But after that, you’ll emerge more alert, energetic and with a new, positive attitude.
My garden is full of herbs and greens, flowers and seeds. So I create my own organic pesto. Here is a great recipe with oils full of essential fatty acids and almonds for protein. Oregano is antibacterial as is garlic, in a addition anti parasitic.
Daily doses of this pesto can help curb cravings and help you stay on your healthy cleanse.
Oregano Pesto
1 cup fresh oregano leaves
1/3 cup almonds
1/4 cup asiago (if using cheese)
1 chunky clove of garlic
Olive oil for desired consistency
I like to use in addition some avocado oil
Place all solid ingredients in food processor.
Process into a fine blend
Add oil and salt to preference.
Yum on everything; especially a spoon!
Happy; healthy eating to feed your soul!
